The slimline, thermally broken frame utilises a hidden fixing bracket which can be secured from the inside. This means no external fixings are visible or accessible, making the Opal rooflight one of the most secure products of this type available.
Alan Green from Prefix Systems comments on the design process ‘We designed the Opal rooflight to be easy to install but more importantly, security was at the forefront of our thoughts. The fixing straps have been purposely designed, interlocking into the main frame by simply twisting into place. The straps are then secured into the kerb directly on the inside face, which means there are no screws or fixings shown and no fiddly clips or hooks that can be tampered with from the outside. Simple installation and with superior security.’
Thermal performance is paramount with modern day glazed products, and the Opal rooflight outperforms its’ rivals in that area as well. Alan continues, ‘The ability to specify triple glazing sets the Opal rooflight apart from others, the thermally broken mainframe is slimline, maximising the glass area. The standard double glazed option provides a U value of 1.2 but this is surpassed by the triple glazed option which reduces the U value to an unrivalled 0.6.’
On operational improvements Alan said, ‘The Opal rooflight has really proved popular with our customers, we’ve seen a steady rise in orders every year since launch and late last year we invested in a brand new machining centre to improve capacity and efficiency. As a result this meant a cost saving in our production process, with this in mind and on the back of various industry price increases over the past couple of years, we’ve decided to pass a proportion of this cost saving back to our customers.”
